Well it’s just after Thanksgiving, and you know what that means… time to start preparing for Christmas. Hey, it wasn’t my idea to replace the Halloween decorations with the Christmas ones, but here we are, up to our eyeballs in garland, ribbon, and all things sparkly. And with the post-Thanksgiving tryptophan coursing through our veins, what better time to cozy up and start our Christmas crafting.
Crafts For the tree – Making decorations for the tree reminds me of Christmas growing up. My mom would always be coming up with cute little ornament ideas that we could craft during the holidays. Outside of the popcorn and cranberry garland that is somehow humbly pleasing, we made Grinch ornaments out of walnuts, angels out of pasta, and bells out of shrunken Styrofoam cups. Ha! I just thought about shrink art… remember shrink art? That stuff is fascinating!
Crafts for the Home – Really, is crafting really crafting without using buttons in some fashion? I don’t think so either. Oh, and glitter. Yes, buttons and glitter make crafts mo’ better and more Christmassy.
Crafts for the Front Door –Put that wreath on the front door as a warm welcome to your happy Christmas home. Now this requires a little more involvement and creativity than your simple Christmas crafties. But what a statement a Marshmallow or Nutty wreath makes! You may get attention from your neighborhood critters as well…
But hey, it’s Christmas so why not spread the love to creatures great and small. Enjoy!
