Thanksgiving table & dessert ideas

With Halloween tucked safely behind us, it’s time to set our sights on the 2 month sprint leading up to Christmas.  Although many dread the frenzy of activity as we count off the last days of the year, it is nice to focus on all the cozy and heartwarming experiences of the holiday season.  Often a nostalgic time of year, it is also nice to switch up traditions and introduce some new ideas, decor and tastes to your table.

I love the idea of natural elements on the holiday table.   So simple!  Grouping of apples, pears, pumpkins, gourds or any other seasonal fall fruits can be decorations today, and afternoon snack tomorrow (eating gourds not advised).  If you need to jazz things up a bit, you can use a gold or bronze to paint the fruit and add some sparkle to the table.  Another great way to add a little outdoors is to scatter fall leaves on the table, or up the center as an impromptu table runner.  Simple and sparse is a good rule to follow, so you have lots of room for all of the Thanksgiving deliciousness!

If I have to eat another pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving dessert I might just fall asleep, but that could also be due to the lethargic effects of eating too much turkey.  Add some excitement to your feast and surprise guest by serving something well… other than pumpkin pie!   There are so many different options that are perfect for fall – a warm pear crisp or salted caramel fondue served with crisp apples.  So many desserts… so little time.  Enjoy!
