Unless you have a bunch of kiddos underfoot sending Valentine’s cards, decorating sugar cookies and enjoying the innocent sweetness of it all, Valentines day is really a party for two. Trust me, I have spent many a Valentine’s as a party of one, probably seeing red in more ways than one (JK!). As I researched my Valentine’s inspired post, I came across a lot of heartfelt gestures that put a big smile on my face.

Still basking in the love of an Alt Conference experience shared with a host of fabulous ladies, I checked out what kind of Valentine’s inspiration they had up their sleeves. The obvious place to start was at lovely Mara’s A Blog About Love. I need to set some time aside to curl up in a cosy chair with this blog, because it reads like an inspirational love story. Mara and Danny share their beautiful story as it unfolds through email exchange, as well as tons of positive energy and encouragement on a range of life topics. This got me thinking about my own relationship, and how much I absolutely, positively love my husband and how lucky I feel every day that we found each other (over the internet, of course!).

I also stopped over at lipstick and leopard print so see what my new Alt friend Brittany was up to. I was lucky enough to also meet her charming husband Wade, so I felt kinda touched when I saw the menu and outfit she put together to celebrate their Valentine’s together. So now, not only am I inspired to make a romantic candlelit dinner, but also sport an outfit that is deserved of such occasion…

That said, I decided to put together an inspiration board that was a love note to my husband. Before we met, I jumped back into the dating pool with one caveat – Boy. Must. Dance. Yes, I got that fire for the dance floor, and I needed someone to share it with me…
No laundry list of musts and qualifications for potential suitors, I was going to be open and just let the process of love take it’s natural course. Laughing was right up there too, because I spend so much time laughing at myself I couldn’t be the only one having all the fun. Now when we hit the dance floor, I have the whole package; dancing and laughing and… love.

Of course there are many other fabulous qualities and things about my husband that I could give him props for, but this is an inspiration board – not a coffee table book! And we can happily live out our fairy tale lives, under a mushroom no less…
