With one week to go, it seems about time to think seriously about a Halloween costume. Gone are the days when I would scour the shops for second hand gear, face paint and the right shade of lipstick to fashion my own costume. Although a homemade costume fastened together with paper-clips and bubble gum has a certain kind of charm, these days I have to point and click my way to costume epic-ness.

To get the wheels turning, I started to eke out inspiration on what peeps are into these days. Having read good friend “tell it like it is” MommyBags blog on “Ho”lloween costumes, I know our options are not that great ladies. Reconfirmed on the sista adventure to the shopping mall yesterday – yes, we can be slutty this or slutty that.

Not my cup of tea either, so I headed to the LA times for some unbiased reporting. Times blogger Jenn Harris has put this top ten list together, including Glee’s Sue Sylvester, Angry Birds, Charlie Sheen, Captain America and ZOMBIES.

I had an inkling about the Zombies. People are crazee about them these days, and I must admit, I have started taking a shine to them myself. Hubby has been trying to turn me on to them for years, and finally I succumbed after Zombieland. Who could resist the duo of redneck vigilante Woody Harrelson and unsuspecting hero Jessie Eisenberg? Throw in sweet and gritty teen Emma Stone, and that’s some Zombie movie magic. Cue up AMC’s the Walking Dead, and now I’m a bonafide Zombie Cheerleader – against the Zombie’s, just to be clear.
Yes, I’m digging on the Zombie costume idea. Not sure of my makeup artistry skills, but some good pointers here and here…

As you can see, Zombie fans come in all shapes and sizes, exhibited by my adorable niece who was inclined to shake her Zombie booty. Too cute! Just don’t tuck her in at night with these dolls – that is just plain creepy (and potentially dangerous!).
