Seven ways to get in the St. Patrick’s Day mood

Why is the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day so infectious?  Such an innocuous and jovial day; what excuse could you have not to get caught up in the festivities?  Maybe it’s the fact that spring is in the air, we can mark the day by wearing green, or have an excuse to act just a little bit silly!  If your idea of celebrating the day doesn’t include standing 10 deep at a pseudo Irish pub drinking green beer, try these tricks to bring out your inner Irish…

1. Eat Frosted Lucky Charms for Breakfast – Just kidding!  These things shouldn’t even be legal let alone endorsed as a great way to start out the day, even if they are magically delicious.  Sugar saturated cereal laced with hardened day-glow marshmallows.  Seriously?

2. Wear Green – I know you have been saving your favorite green outfit just for this day!  Call me kitschy, but I just can’t help dressing on cue for themed days!  How else are you going to broadcast that this is no ordinary day, but a day marked for celebration!

3. Drink Beer!  Your cocktail choices just got so much easier…  Consider today a vacation from dissecting the trendy cocktail menu or complicated wine list.  Pints all round for everyone!

4. Eat pub food with abandon!  Well, if you can look past the deep fried goodness of fish and chips, maybe a tasty Irish lamb stew is in order.  I have always wanted to make Irish Soda bread and this might be my perfect opportunity…  And checkout these Irish Car Bomb Mini Cheesecakes, made using a glass of stout no less!

5. Shamrocks and gold coins!  The perfect party table decorations – nuf said.

6. Dance an Irish Jig – Doesn’t everyone find the sound of the fiddle infectious?  It’s like your limbs are wont to be rhythmically swinging about your body at odd angles.

7. Pucker Up!  Whether for good luck, flirtation, love, or something in between, how about a kiss to set the world right.  If only it were so easy… but no harm in trying, am I right?

Enjoy!
