Caramel Apple Treats- Recipe

{Salted (and other) Caramel Apples}

That’s it!!  I am so making these.  Ever since I laid my eyes on the first caramel apple of the Halloween season, I have been inspired.  Truthfully, my fixation started many years ago after coming across Caramel Apples from Martha’s Kitchen.  Of course we want to try everything that graces the pages of her magazine, but crushes fade, and the recipe awaits in good company in my recipe catacombs.

Fast forward to Halloween 2011.  I have already been merrily eating this years crop of Macintosh apples from the market.  But something was missing.  Oh, that’s right… CARAMEL.

And now the shocking truth.  I don’t think I have ever eaten a caramel apple.  Can you believe it?!? Me either.  That is why we are going to have to rectify the situation but pronto!  Obviously with no eating experience the bar has been set very low, but you don’t think I am going to eat a whole batch of caramel apples by myself do you?  I have a few unsupecting subjects in mind…

Amazing and hilarious The Pioneer Woman has laid out a glorious montage on these tasty treats.  For a step-by-step how to here…

The only caveat, is that I can’t see myself unwrapping, like 100 caramels.  And sometime the little bits of plastic stick to the caramel.  Sounds like an exercise in frustration to me.  Well, the modern day caramel wrapper may have upgraded to a non-stick variety, but when going head to head with, say a can of sweetened condensed milk,  I think we know who the clear winner here is, don’t we?  Check out the recipe for the Sweetened Condensed Milk recipe here…
