Paper Planes & Pumpkin Cupcakes

Blogging angst.  If I’m not struggling between two different themes, then it’s finishing out one party idea before getting caught up in the next.  One thing is for certain, I love the constant elation of brainstorming what and how to celebrate.  Yes, life should just be one big party!  Take, for example the postcards to planes party.  So many fun planning details… like making paper airplanes.  When is the last time you folded one of these puppies up.  Fun!  And, since they are for purely aesthetic purposes, I don’t have to be shamed by the fact they probably won’t fly.  Aerodynamics be damned!

The tough part about throwing a going away party, is that you are saying goodbye to good friends.  Alas great friends, who are thumbing their nose at corporate life and taking flight on adventure.  To infinity and beyond!  Good for them – I think at some point in this life, everyone should throw caution to the wind, and go on the big O.E. (Overseas Experience as our Kiwi friends like to say).  So I buffer the sadness of losing a part of our family with planning and crafting and baking with love.

I have the following inspiration in store for this party:

1. {DIY} Making paper airplanes.  I am really looking forward to this –  just me, some fancy paper, and no judging.  Imma gonna break somebody’s fingers if they try to fly these babies – just let me have my fun.  Seriously.

2. {Menu} Pumpkin Spiced Cupcakes with Maple Cream Cheese Frosting. My buddy loves him some pumpkin.  So a party in his honor wouldn’t be right without this winter squash showing up at the table.  I was going to order cupcakes from a local cupcakerie, but when I discover this recipe at smitten kitchen, I mean how could I not bake these up.  I may have mentioned I am not a baker, so we will see if this was the right decision within the next 48 hours…
